Suited Up to Play Basketball

Last fall TNA organized a fundraiser at Jimmy Valentine’s Lonely Hearts Club to support youth programs in our community. Basketball uniforms for children at the Trinidad Recreation Center were one of the items purchased with funds raised by community members. If you haven’t had a chance to catch one of the games, here are some photos of a game played last Saturday, February 20th against a team from Benning Stoddert Recreation Center. The Trinidad team’s new uniforms are in red.

Great effort by the Trinidad team!

If you could not attend yesterday and would still like to contribute, there is a PayPal link set up for online donations. You can help push us over the $3,500 mark!

Support for Trinidad School Kids

If you did not notice the youth in uniform today, public school students returned to the class room for the start of the 2015-2016 school year. As students begin their studies, our community looks to how we can help them succeed through after school programs, provide needed class room materials, and fund youth sports uniforms and programs. TNA has again joined forces with Jimmy Valentine’s Lonely Hearts Club (JVLHC) for a fundraiser to contribute to our school community. For the past several years TNA and JVLHC have collaborated to raise funds that have gone 100% back to the community. In past years we have raised as much as $4,000.00. This year we can set the bar higher and strive for $5,000.00 in contributions for our youth.

The fundraising event will be held on October 1st from 7 pm to 10 pm at 1103 Bladensburg Road NE. JVLHC and other businesses contribute food, drinks, and music. The $20 entry donation is used to fund programs that the schools and recreation centers request to support youth programming.

You can purchase a ticket to the event or make a donation on the website. All contributions are tax deductible as TNA is a 501(c)3 organization. The link to EventBrite is here. If you have any questions about the fundraiser, please contact us at trinidadneighborhood@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you at the JVLHC Youth Programs fundraiser and thank you in advance for your support to our youth programs!
