Hundred And One Pieces :: Fringe Art in Trinidad

From the Miss Pixie’s website there is news of a new art exhibit with original art by local artists, children and others. The notice is copied below as well. Deadline for submission is June 8th.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!!
The final Miss Pixie’s at Capital Fringe event is upon us! We are in search of local artists to participate in

HUNDRED AND ONE PIECES :: FRINGE ART.

The Logan Fringe Arts Space will be filled from floor to ceiling with a collection curated by Pixie Windsor consisting of original art by children, local artists and ‘outsider artists” with the theme “Hi, How are you?” – Importance of real time human connection.

All work is available for sale with 20% of the proceeds going directly to Capital Fringe.

No size requirements but all pieces must be framed and ready to hang on drywall – so be mindful of weight. Any medium is welcome as long as it is hangable. Feel free to submit as many pieces as you’d like! Preference to artwork that has not been previously shown.

Email images of art to PIXIE@MISSPIXIES.COM by June 8th.
DO NOT BRING PIECES IN! JUST SUBMIT HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS VIA EMAIL.

Submit ASAP to have work considered for social media, advertising and web purposes! Must be revived before June 1st.

Juried decision will be made by 5pm June 10th.

If chosen you will receive an email including installation details.

Please join us for the opening night at Logan Fringe Arts Space – Friday July 7th 6:00pm-8:00pm!! This evening will also kick off the start to this summer’s Capital Fringe Festival! Not to be missed!

Upcoming Events in February

Trinidad Craft Salon: This first of three crafting salons will be held this evening, February 8th, at 7 pm at Capital Fringe (1358 Florida Avenue). See our previous post for additional details and come nurture your creative side.

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5D Meeting: The next ANC5D meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 7 pm. Meetings are at the 5th District Police Station on Bladensburg Road. The agenda is posted on the ANC5D website. There are two very important items for development variances on the agenda that impact Trinidad. These are the properties at 1258 and 1264 Holbrook Terrance NE.

Trinidad Neighborhood Association Meeting: February 23rd is the next scheduled TNA meeting. Presenters include the Department of Employment Services (DOES) covering  jobs and job training programs, the Metropolitan Police Department, and representatives of the Mayor’s and Councilmember’s offices. The meeting will be held at 7 pm at the Trinidad Recreation Center (1310 Childress Street NE).

Ward 5 Young Professionals Networking Mixer: This event is being held at Union Social (100 Florida Ave NE) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 25th. This event is being organized by Councilmember McDuffie’s office.
