Local One Eight Distillery Gives Back to Community: Habitat for Humanity & Washington Humane Society

one eightIvy City’s One Eight Distilling is dedicated to giving back to the community, sharing the success of their business with Habitat for Humanity and the Washington Humane Society. Several of their employees are also Trinidad and Ivy City residents! One Eight is located at 1135 Okie St NE. On Friday One Eight releases the first batch of Ivy City Gin. For every bottle sold in the District this year, One Eight will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity projects in the area. Since 2010 Habitat has been working to provide more than three dozen affordable homes in Ivy City.  Iy City Gin is available for sale at local retailers or at the distillery, Saturdays from 1pm – 4pm, when it is open to the public for tours, samples and sales. One Eight is also supporting the Washington Humane Society with a Whiskers & Whiskey benefit on June 24th. The distillery is located just south of the WHS New York Avenue Adoption Center. Event Details:https---img.evbuc.com-https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.evbuc.com%2Fimages%2F13585354%2F134425058368%2F1%2Foriginal.jpg?rect=5%2C57%2C582%2C291&s=f79324eae10622cac61169e8160a32e5 We’ve got the hooch, you bring the pooch! One Eight Distilling is proud to welcome two-legged guests and their four-legged friends for a casual cocktail party benefiting the Washington Humane Society on Wednesday, June 24th from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The recently-opened distillery (located at 1135 Okie Street NE, in Ivy City) is partnering with Eat & Smile Catering to offer canine-inspired cocktail concoctions, complimented by fantastic food from Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats and Swizzler Gourmet Hotdogs Tickets ($15) include your first cocktail and a donation to protect and defend homeless, abused, and abandoned animals in our community. While exploring the distillery, attendees and their pets will also enjoy pup-ular music, free photos from Tickled Photo Booth Company, party favors, and more. A portion of all food, beverage, and merchandise sales this evening will benefit the Washington Humane Society, and volunteers will also be on site with adoptable pets and information on rehoming. For the safety and enjoyment of all guests and species, pets must remain on-leash and accompanied by a human at all times inside the distillery.
