Suggest a Bike Share Station
Trinidad has one Capital Bike Share (CaBi) station located outside of the Joe Cole Recreation Center to serve members in the neighborhood. Have you ever been blocked, arriving at the bike station and finding there were no docks to secure a bike? Have you ever gone to the station and found all bikes had already been checked out? Those are situations most members run into as they commute, run errands, or take out bikes for other reasons.
As more and more apartment/condo buildings continue popping up everywhere in our neighborhood with limited parking, current and new residents will need additional transportation options. The one docking station in the neighborhood may well see heavier usage. Also as new destinations open in Ivy City, it may be more convenient to bike to the gym, grocery store, or other retail outlets there.
New CaBi stations can be suggested on a crowd source map. You need to log in with a user name, email address, and zip code. You can then mark on the map where you recommend a new station be added. The more recommendations for a location may well increase the likelihood that resources be allocated there. As reported in the Washington Post on August 3rd, there will be 60 more stations coming online this fall. Log on and make your suggestions for a site near you!
