As the Ward 5 Liaison from the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations & Services, I am currently on the scene of a fire on the 1000th block of 16th Street, SE. Along with FEMS and other District government agencies, we are helping displaced residents locate housing and services.

Please see the alert below and avoid the area. If you are in the area, please listen to first responders as they clear the scene. I will update the community once the scene has been cleared.

S: Fire w/ Displacements
FEMS reports that 11 people are displaced from a 4 unit apt building at 1007 16th St NE. Fire is out. No injuries reported yet. Red Cross notified and is sending a team. 16th St NE btwn Levis St & Oakes St is closed. Levis St. NE blocked at Bladensburg Rd NE.
