Special Meeting to Discuss Liquor License Applications

Did you know that community members may protest a liquor license and/or seek a settlement agreement with a business before a license is granted? You can learn more about the process on the Alcohol Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) website or learn more in person at a special meeting organized by the Trinidad Neighborhood Association.

TNA will hold a special meeting on Thursday, December 17th at 7 pm at the Trinidad Recreation Center to discuss two new liquor license applications. Business owners are invited to present their plans before community members and TNA will seek community input on the requests.

The businesses are:

Trinidad Market/Mike’s Market at 1322 Florida Avenue NE (corner of Trinidad and Florida Avenues). They are requesting a new Class A Liquor Store license from ABRA.

Proposed Hours of Operation and Alcoholic Beverage Sales:  7 am to 12 am Sunday through Saturday.

This would be a new license for the location. The deadline to submit a petition for protest is January 4, 2016 and the hearing date before ABRA is January 19, 2016.

Roses Queen Liquors at 830 Bladensburg Road NE. They are seeking a substantial change of hours to extend hours of operation and alcoholic beverage sales.

Current Hours of Operation and Alcoholic Beverage Sales: Sunday-Closed; Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 10:00pm

Proposed Hours of Operation and Alcoholic Beverage Sales: Sunday 9:00am to 10pm; Monday through Saturday 7:00am to 12:00am

The petition deadline to protest or seek a settlement agreement between the community and the business is January 19, 2016. The hearing date at ABRA is February 1, 2016.

Roses just recently completed a Settlement Agreement on July 1, 2015 to renew their license. This represents a substantial change and provides opportunity for community re-engagement with the business.

Join us on December 17th to learn more about the process and voice your opinion on the liquor license changes requested.
