Volunteer Ops for Disasters and Presidential Inaugurations
If you’ve never heard of Serve DC and like to volunteer, here is your opportunity to learn more. The agency trains citizens to be prepared to assist their community in case of disaster and organizes volunteers for presidential inaugurations, visits from the Pope and other high-profile visitors. Here is the information on their latest volunteer orientation:
Serve DC – The Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism is the District of Columbia Government agency dedicated to promoting community service as an innovative, sustainable solution to pressing social challenges. Serve DC also provides critical support to the District’s official emergency response effort as the lead agency for emergency volunteer and donations management. Serve DC provides free, ongoing emergency preparedness training to youth and adults who live, work or congregate in the District. These trainings engage residents with the necessary skills and resources to respond and assist during emergencies – ensuring residents play a major role in making their communities safer, stronger and better prepared to address threats of terrorism, crime and disasters.
Come to our Volunteer Orientation on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 to learn about the numerous community service and emergency preparedness opportunities to Serve DC. You will be able to schedule training for the service opportunities of your choice at the Orientation.
