The Washington Post shares more information on the Qualia Coffee shop planned for 1240 Mt. Olivet Rd NE. Part of a larger rock climbing and beer garden complex visioned by H St icon Joe Englert, the shop will be Qualia’s second location in DC.

Current plans include two coffee bars with space for educational workshops, likely focused on coffee. We hope that means Qualia will replicate the monthly coffee tastings currently offered at its Petworth location and help us explore the difference in coffee beans grown in different parts of the world.

The 3500 square feet of the new project dedicated to Qualia will provide much more space for small-batch roasting of the single-origin bean Qualia is known for. Expect a mid-2016 opening since the Strauss Photo building that currently sits on the lot needs to be demolished.
